Frequently asked questions

Find detailed answers below regarding our purebred British Shorthair and British Longhair kittens, our comprehensive veterinary screening, and how we handle adoptions across Ontario.

What health testing do your breeding cats undergo?

All of our breeding kings and queens undergo comprehensive veterinary screenings, including tests for Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD), Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV),  Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), Mycoplasma, Herpesvirus, Toxoplasma, Coronavirus, Chlamydia, and Panleukopenia.

What is the difference between British Shorthair and British Longhair cats?

Both varieties share the same calm, affectionate temperament, sturdy build, and distinctive round features. The only difference is coat length: British Shorthairs have a dense, plush short coat requiring weekly brushing, while British Longhairs have a luxurious semi-long coat that benefits from frequent combing.

What is included when I bring a kitten home?

Every kitten comes fully vet-checked, dewormed, up to date on core age-appropriate vaccinations and accompanied by a written health guarantee. We also supply a starter pack with familiar food and transition tips to help them settle in comfortably.

How long have you been breeding British cats?

We have been breeding purebred British Shorthair and British Longhair cats for over 10 years in Toronto. Our decade of hands-on experience guarantees sound breed genetics, thorough socialisation, and ongoing support for our adoptive families.

Do you allow home visits?

No, we do not offer in-person home visits. Pure Charm Cattery is located in our private family home, where our cats and kittens are raised in a comfortable, loving environment. To protect our family’s privacy and maintain a healthy, stress-free environment for our cats, we welcome prospective families to connect with us through photos, videos, and video calls.

How do I reserve an available kitten?

You can browse our current litters and submit an inquiry through our adoption process. Once approved, a deposit secures your chosen kitten until they are ready to leave home at around 12 to 14 weeks of age.

Do you offer pickup in Toronto and delivery across the GTA?

Yes. We welcome scheduled in-person pickups at our Toronto location. For families located elsewhere in the Greater Toronto Area or neighbouring Ontario regions, safe, pet-friendly delivery arrangements can also be coordinated upon request, additional charge will apply if outside of GTA.

Are your kittens well socialised with families and other pets?

Yes. Our kittens are raised underfoot in our home, receiving constant human interaction, gentle handling, and exposure to everyday household sounds. This ensures they grow into confident, friendly, and affectionate companions.

Where can I review full adoption pricing and terms?

Full details on our pricing structure, reservation deposits, and contract guidelines are documented on our Adoption Process & Pricing page.
